Thanks for reading the Surfwell article in Our Place magazine. Below are some videos describing the progressions of a functional squat.

Working on a full squat is a key movement for any surfer. It has the ability to create better mobility through the upper and lower body, while also setting the foundation for good movement while performing strengthening exercises such as a loaded squat, lunge and deadlift.

We recommend starting with squat #1 and doing about 3 sets of 5 breaths 1-2 x day. Progress through the squats at your own pace but make sure you can maintain a good tuck of the pelvis. If you experience any significant pain with the exercises, please consult with a physio to help you with this (or come and talk to us).
